Production Lucid Air World Debut Set for April

Lucid Motors finally set a date for the production version of the Lucid Air. The fully electric sedan will be unveiled in New York in April.

  • Production-ready Lucid Air to make global debut in April;
  • Unveiling set to be made during the New York Auto Show;
  • Reservations are now opened for early adopters.

The California-based Lucid Motors unveiled the Lucid Air prototype back in December of 2016. Three years later, the production version of the fully electric sedan will make its world debut in New York in April.

Said to be the world’s most advanced electric car, the Lucid Air will have a range of over 400 miles and tackle the 0-60 mph in under 2.5 seconds.

The Lucid Air is a cutting-edge electric vehicle designed, engineered, and destined for manufacture entirely in America,” said Peter Rawlinson, CEO and CTO, Lucid Motors.

Back in December, Lucid Motors broke ground in Casa Grande, AZ and reached the first milestone of the construction of its electric vehicle manufacturing facility. The factory will also include a state-of-the-art paint shop.

The first cars to roll off the line in Q4 of 2020 will be pre-production copies. Full production models will be built shortly after, before the end of 2020 says the company.

The Lucid Air world debut should happen during the New York Auto Show where visitors will be able to see it for the first time in its production form. Production specifications, available configurations, and pricing information will also be made available during the global reveal in April.

The New York International Auto Show is held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center from April 10 – 19, 2020.

For the time being, Lucid Motors opened its reservation process for the Lucid Air. You can reserve yours with a $1,000 deposit directly on their website.
