The automaker will stop production of the current gas-powered Macan this summer, perhaps in July.
This will leave only the electric version until a new generation of gasoline and hybrid Macan arrives in 2028.

While the life-cycle of the gasoline-powered Porsche Macan was extended a few years into the electric model’s production run, the end is getting nearer for this model, which has remained largely unchanged since its launch, all the way back in 2013.
Indeed, the automaker’s CFO, Jochen Breckner, confirmed that production of the gas-powered Macan will end this summer during the company’s earnings call yesterday, as reported by Automotive News.
Since the next generation of the gasoline and hybrid Macan is only expected to arrive in 2028, this will leave the electric version alone to hold the fort for at least a few months.

According to Mr. Breckner, the number of Macans coming out of the Leipzig factory, which also manufactures the electric version, will be limited by suppliers rather than by the facility’s own capacity.
This strategy should ensure that global inventories of the current Macan will last into 2027, which will reduce the length of time the electric model will spend as the only representative of the brand’s most popular model.
Indeed, sales of the Macan EV only account for about a third of all Macan sales, and the scrapping of the American Federal EV tax credit last year by the Trump administration has meant a reduction in demand for the electric model and a slight rebound for the gas version, which still saw its sales slide 19% in the country last year.

Because of this, a large proportion of the last run of the combustion-powered Macan will be headed to the United States.
As a reminder, the current Macan can be powered either by a turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder engine that delivers 261 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, or a twin-turbo 2.9L V6 that generates 375 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque under the hood of the Macan S or 434 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque when installed in the top-of-the-line Macan GTS.
Canadian pricing for the 2026 Porsche Macan starts at $73,535 and goes up to $103,042 for the GTS, but in all cases, a long list of optional extras can push the total much higher.
As a comparison, the Macan EV starts at $104,602 and goes up to $144,202 while providing up to 630 horsepower and a range of up to 507 kilometers.
