This is the second member of VW’s ID. family of EVs.
It follows the ID.3 for which deliveries began recently.
The ID.4’s world premiere is planned for the end of September.
On the heels of the small ID.3, Volkswagen has just begun producing the ID.4 SUV for Europe. Production in China will begin later this year and in 2022 in the US.
While we’ve not yet officially seen what the ID.4 will look like, we all know exactly what it will look like. Even so, its official world premiere will take place in late September, and in the meantime, Volkswagen is stocking up.
The Volkswagen ID.4 will be a very important component in the German car company’s EV plans. “However, the ID.4 is not only the first fully-electric SUV from the Volkswagen brand,” says Brand Director Ulbrich at the start of the series production of the new ID. model. “It will also be a genuine world car, which we will produce and sell not only in Europe but also in China and the USA.”
About North America, we will receive the ID.4 ahead of local production in Chattanooga. For the 2022 model year, our units will be sourced from Germany. It will signify the official launch of the ID. family of EVs which will be followed by other MEB-platform-based sedans and SUVs as well as the electric Volkswagen Bus, the legendary Bulli, or as it’s expected to be named, ID.7.
