VW drops Trendline trims, adds loads of standard kit
Atlas line is now all 2.0L turbo-four
Volkswagen has just announced pricing for the refreshed 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport. With new features and new looks, there is also a new price. The 2024 models start from $49,995 and $48,895.
That’s quite a price hike for both models, up around $8,000 from last year, but most buyers will pay around the same price as before. How does that work? Volkswagen dropped the entry-spec Trendline trim from both models. VW Canada said that they weren’t popular, so the company simplified the lineup.
All Volkswagen Atlas models get a new nose and new nicer cabin finishes. They also get a new engine with a 269 hp 2.0L turbo-four replacing both the old 2.0L four and the 3.6L VR6. The new four-cylinder delivers V6 power and more torque and VW said it should improve fuel economy, drivability, and acceleration.
With Comfortline as the new entry-level model all Atlas models get three-zone climate control, ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel. They also have a tow package, wireless App connect, 45W wireless device charging, and keyless access.
New for 2024 is the $53,995 Peak Edition Atlas. It’s a Comfortline with rugged off-roady bits like all-terrain tires, silver cladding, black trim, and a unique interior.
Highline ($56,995) adds 20-inch alloys, leather seating, a panoramic roof, Harman Kardon audio, navigation, a heated second row, auto high beams, and adaptive LED front lights. At the very top sits Execline R-Line ($59,995) which adds 21s, R-LIne trim, power-folding mirrors, park assist, 360 camera, and head-up display.
2024 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is equipped just like the Atlas, but without the third row (the roofline doesn’t allow it) and without the Peak Edition. Atlas Cross Sport Comfortline is $48,995, Highline is $55,895, and Execline R-Line is $58,995.
Expect VW’s full-size 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport at dealers in late summer.
