Rivian Demonstrates its R1T’s 8 Drive Modes

The new Rivian R1T has a Drift, a Rally, and a Sport mode, and there are five others

  • The R1T can do it all, from the track to rock crawling.

  • Drives modes are nothing new but Rivian gives them more purpose than ever.

  • Four are for on-road, the other four are for off-road.

Watching this video is making us jealous of the fun the drivers had while soothing it. The spot shows a new Rivian R1T essentially concurring every driving situation possible with the notable exception of snow – perhaps that’s the Rally mode’s secret function. In all, the new R1T comes with eight drives modes, and we want to try them all.

Each drive mode has a direct impact on the R1T’s ride height, suspension stiffness, accelerator pedal response, all-wheel drive, and more for optimized performance. The very opening of the video shows the R1T crushing high-speed apexes and drifting slightly on a track. At the very other end of the spectrum of automotive possibilities, the R1T is casually and easily crawling over rocks that c will challenge many would-be off-road SUVs.

Ultimately, the eight drive modes are designed to provide the driver and passengers with the utmost comfort, efficiency, or performance no matter what terrain lies beneath the R1T’s tires.
