The Rivian R1S is expected to hit the road this summer.
Interest in this SUV, and the R1T truck is sky-high.
Electric vehicle start-up companies are a dime-a-dozen these days but none generate more anticipation than Rivian. The only explanation, in our opinion, is the product itself. And possibly the company’s approach at promoting itself. If anything, the Rivian trucks are available in cool colours!
Unlike other new EV brands, Rivian isn’t promoting their vehicles as luxurious, bespoke, or premium in any way, and that’s despite the pricing structure. The fact that the R1S is a large SUV and the R1T, a large pickup, also has to do with their mass appeal. Again, unlike many other EV brands, the “people” seem behind Rivian.

The image of a Rivian Blue R1S being put together on the company’s assembly line is somehow exciting. We’ve seen millions of similar shots over the years but the combination of the colour and RJ Scaringe’s simple “R1S!” message feels right. We think that the R1S’ real SUV proportions and design, albeit with a unique style, are absolute turn-ons.
You can build and reserve your new Rivian R1S online since late November of last year. For the moment, only the Explore and Adventure trims with the large battery pack are available.
