Rugged-ing All the Things Including the Hyundai Ioniq 5

The recently facelifted Ioniq 5 looks like it will soon be offered in an XRT trim

The Ioniq 5 might be “old” at this point in time, three years after its introduction, but it’s still hot. As one of the best-selling EVs, Hyundai isn’t wasting any time on capitalizing on its popularity as it’s already found itself on the receiving end of significant updates and a full-fledged N version. Next up, a rugged XRT trim.

2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 Getting More Range, Rear Wiper

At the very least, this is what the Korean Car Blog assumes based on sharing pictures of fully camo’d prototypes. Evidence of the XRT trim is found in the revised front and rear bumpers, pixel-look cladding and flares, and truck-like wheels shod with all-terrain tires. Also visible are an LED front light bar, roof rails, as well as from what we can see, a larger gap between the tires and fender flares.

Powertrain-wise, we can safely assume that the dual-motor HTRAC AWD layout will be standard with the XRT as will surely be numerous drive modes. Battery size and output numbers, 77.4 kWh and 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque respectively, should not change for this version.

The updated 2025 Ioniq 5 will arrive later this year. Based on this, the XRT trim might land in 2025 for the 2026 model year.
