BMW won’t waste any time it seems as the iX electric SUV may quickly get a performance version. More details on the 2022 BMW iX electric SUV were revealed two weeks ago. Confirmed details included the coming of two iterations, including an xDrive40 and xDrive50. As we all know, high-powered premium SUVs are always welcomed by buyers with deep pockets, and it seems as though BMW will oblige.

BMW iX xDrive50 Getting 500 hp, Loads of Greener Materials

The rumoured iX M60 will start off as an xDrive50. The latter’s twin electric motors will be good for 500 horsepower or enough to send the SUV to 60mph from a standstill in under 5 seconds. The iX M60 will spend some time with the M Performance Automobile Division where they should be able to extract an extra 60 horsepower according to BMW Blog.

As well, the iX M60 will likely be on the receiving of some visual tweaks such as a more aggressive body style, wheels, and other components including revisions to the suspension. As for equipment, it is expected that all the finest bits will be available including a Bowers & Wilkins 4D surround sound system.

The BMW iX xDrive40 and xDrive50 are planned for a late 2021 or early 2022 arrival. The M60 could come along about a year later.
