The M8 CSL might rely on hybrid technology.
Hybrid system with straight-6 cylinder and electric motors could produce up to 700 horsepower.

BMW has shared in the past that we can expect more special editions such as CS and CSL variants in the future. An M8 CSL would certainly hit the spot as BMW has also mentioned in the past that a supercar from the brand was highly unlikely.
This rumoured 2022 BMW M8 CSL, apparently in the earliest stages of development according to BMWblog.com, will not feature a mega-boosted V8 engine but rather a hybrid combination including a 3.0-litre straight-6 cylinder petrol engine mated to a few electric motors. Power output is said to be upwards of 700 horsepower.
While 700 horsepower reads like a big number, it isn’t exactly that anymore. However, as we know, a CSL BMW implies lightweight which would signify that an M8 CSL would be lighter than its regular M8 counterpart. CSL also means the car will be ready for the racetrack. As such, we can expect seriously enhanced aerodynamics including a large rear spoiler.
