The Aurus Senat luxury sedan was promoted by Putin.
The base price starts at $245,000.
The Aurus Senat’s claim to fame is having served as Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ride during his 2018 inauguration as president for a new six-year term. This key endorsement is expected to help Aurus, a product of the Russian automotive research institute, take on the likes of both Bentley and Rolls Royce in the ultra-high-end automotive market.
Production of the Senat began today and it will sport a base price of 18 million rubles or the equivalent of $245,000 US. The Aurus Senat is aimed at British brands, and it’s also clearly inspired by them as well.
The Senat’s front end is obviously styled after the RR Phantom while the rear end looks to be copied from the Flying Spur from a generation or two ago. According to Automotive News Europe, the Senat will only be produced in 200 to 300 examples. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre hybrid V8 mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
A limousine version is already available and is the one used by Putin in 2018. Aurus shared its automotive plans back in 2013.
