Saturday Night Live Lexus Skit Is A Dose Of Hilarious Hard Reality

While we’d all love to give our significant others a new car, the fact is this is too big a purchase. SNL nails reality in this funny skit

  • Carmakers love to roll out adverts with their products as gifts.

  • The “December To Remember” skit is a superb satire of Lexus’ holiday deals.

Many of us would probably love to get a new car as a gift. However, as we all know, for the average family, buying a new car is the second largest purchase we make. Many carmakers have rolled out their Holiday marketing campaigns and Saturday Night Live has poked fun at Lexus’ “December To Remember.”

While I’ve received (and given) a used car as a gift, the associated cost was closer to the down payment mentioned in the SNL skit. Most of us will agree that purchasing a $50,000 vehicle is not something to be taken lightly or done without consulting our partner. As we know, communication avoids many unwanted surprises and complications.

This is what happens when SNL cast members Beck Bennett (Nathan) gives his wife, played by Heidi Gardner (Cathy) the keys to a brand new Lexus RX. Hilarity ensues when it becomes clear that Nathan hasn’t held a job in nearly two years and that he has no idea what he’s done, and what he’s gotten himself into.
