Shelby American Launches 825-horsepower 6-Speed Manual Ford Mustang

Unhappy with the Mustang GT500’s lack of a manual gearbox? Shelby American’s got you covered.

  • Only 50 will be built.
  • Starting price is $127,795.
  • If you’re too lazy to shift yourself, the 10-speed automatic transmission is optional.

The secret to Carroll Shelby’s success was never much of a secret: take a car, throw in more power, then add a little more, upgrade a few other parts for good measure and off you go. The limited edition 2020 Carroll Shelby Signature Series Mustang is exactly that, more or less. It starts out life as a regular Ford Mustang GT with its 5.0-litre V8 and the car is then given a sever once over.

In order to develop a staggering 825-horsepower, Shelby worked with Whipple to develop the supercharger. Putting the power to the rear wheels is a short throw shifter-equipped 6-speed manual of a cooling-enhanced 10-speed automatic transmission. A Shelby by Borla exhaust system with custom tips channels the furry out the rear.

The chassis features the Ford Performance MagneRide handling pack, 20”x11” forged aluminum wheels which cover the Shelby by Brembo braking system (6 piston front, 4 piston rear callipers.

The exterior is visually and functionally beefed up for extra cooling including the metallic RAM air hood, heavy aero add-ons along with the necessary striping, badging and tinted windows. The cabin gains “Shelby spec interior upgrades” including a new gauge cluster.
