Shelby American Launches the New Shelby Raptor

With plenty of attention to the interior, the new Shelby Raptor is posh and badass

  • It is Shelby’s “most polished off-road super truck” ever.

  • Output is boosted to 525 horsepower.

  • It is priced from $124,820 including the Raptor.

Shelby American’s built numerous extreme-performance vehicles including many trucks. With little doubt, the Shelby Raptor is one of the coolest and most desirable of them all. With the recent arrival of the new Ford F-150 Raptor, Shelby’s had at it and made it nice and “bad”.

The bad part is that Shelby’s increased the high output 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 engine output to at least 525 horsepower and to 610+ lb.-ft. of torque. Attempting to put the power down is a BDS suspension lift along with giant 37-inch off-road tires on 18-inch aluminum forged wheels.

Beyond the bespoke Shelby Baja Raptor hood, striping, front grille, and other unique touches, the Shelby Raptor has also been updated onboard. It features embroidered custom leather seats and a few other premium touches.

“Shelby American and Ford Motor Company have a tremendous history of working diligently together on high-performance cars and trucks for enthusiasts worldwide,” said Joe Conway, CEO of Shelby American. “We’re excited to continue that important legacy. The future is bright as our companies continue evolving the product line, so the public has even more choices for world-class Shelby vehicles through Ford dealer showrooms.”

As always, Shelby American vehicles are only available in limited numbers and are not cheap. Pricing for the 2022 Shelby Raptor starts at $124,820 including the purchase price of a new Raptor.
