Shelby American Track worthy Shelby 1000 Mustang

SEMA’s going on at this very moment down in sunny and warm Las Vegas. The tuning car show of all tuning car shows is a place where you’ll see everything from a mega rare IMSA GTO-spec 1981 BMW M1 Group 4 ProCar to a heavily modified 1st generation Volkswagen Golf with a done-up Chevy LS V8 under the bonnet and all the muscle-cars you can possibly imagine in between.

SEMA principally serves as a platform for tuners and specialists to unveil some of their latest stuff and this is what Shelby American has done. The creators of the legendary 1962 Cobra are still hard at work creating kits and packages that transform ordinary cars into extraordinary performance machines.

The Shelby 1000 doesn’t much hide what’s it’s all about. The 1000 refers to the number of ponies produced by the car’s V8. For just about $170,000, Shelby will take your 2015 and later-model year ‘Stang, tear it apart and rebuilt it into track-terrorizing hyper road rocket.

The standard Coyote 5.0-litre V8 goes bye-bye, is replaced with a supercharged 5.2-litre V8 with top-of-the-heap internals, modified GT350 cylinder heads and a 4.5L Whipple supercharger. The resulting 1,000 horsepower are honed and sustained with a high flow fuel system, transmission, ECU and some tuning. This is just the beginning. Next, they move on to the suspension with fully adjustable coilovers and tubular adjustable upper and lower control arms and more such as huge Brembo brakes.

The cherry on top are the cosmetics. The car’s front and rear tracks are widened and are wrapped in all-new front fascia, hood, front fenders, rocker and quarter-panels as well as a rear diffuser. The finishing touch are the sweet 20” wheels shod with big rubber.

Only 50 cars per model year will be available. Production begins in Las Vegas in the first quarter of 2018.
