265 mile EV now offers heat pump option as well
Dual motor car adds 16 miles to get 249 for 2022
For 2022, Polestar is adding a new version of the Polestar 2 EV that gives the car more range for less money. It’s thanks to a new single-motor powertrain, with even more range possible thanks to the addition of a new heat pump.
The new Polestar 2 Long range Single motor brings the model’s price down to $45,900 US, down from the $49,900 of the Dual motor. For that, you get 265 miles of range, up 32 miles from the 2021 Dual motor. Though the 2022 Dual motor also gets a range bump, now offering an EPA estimated 249.
The single motor 2 will make 231 hp, which is less than half the 408 hp of the dual-motor. It will have the same 78 kWh battery pack.
Three new option packages start with the Plus Pack. The $4,000 option features a mechanical heat pump Polestar says can add 10 percent to range in certain conditions. Though that doesn’t add to the 265 range estimate, it should give you more of that range in icy weather. The pack comes with a full-length glass roof, Harman Kardon audio, and WeaveTech vegan upholstery. If you live somewhere cold, Polestar calls this a must-have.
A Pilot Pack for $3,200 adds adaptive cruise, Pilot Assist, blind spot information, and 360-degree camera views, while a $5,000 Performance Pack adds Ohlins adjustable dampers, 20-inch forged wheels, Brembo brakes, and Swedish Gold detailing, though the pack is Dual motor only.
First deliveries of the 2022 Polestar 2 are expected by the end of the year, and you can order yours now.
