smart has revealed the Concept #2 in Beijing, using its Global Brand Event 2026 to put the spotlight back on its roots in the two-seat city car that originally defined the brand. The concept is the first physical preview of the upcoming smart #2, with the production model scheduled to make its world debut in Paris in October 2026. At the same event, smart also introduced the #6 EHD, a premium fastback sedan for China.

smart’s global portfolio will soon grow from three to five models, building on the existing #1, #3 and #5. The company framed the additions as the next stage of its international growth plan, with vehicles designed by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team and sold in 40 markets.

The Concept #2 is a compact two-seater developed on smart’s new Electric Compact Architecture, or ECA. smart says the concept measures 2,792 mm in length, shorter than the wheelbase of many midsize SUVs, and uses a wheels-at-the-corners layout to maximize cabin space. The company also cites a 6.95-metre turning circle, highlighting that the vehicle is destined as a dense-city solution.

smart has also shared some early performance targets for the future production car. The concept offers a WLTP electric range of nearly 300 kilometres, DC fast charging from 10 to 80% in under 20 minutes, and Vehicle-to-Load capability. These figures remain preliminary and the company has not released battery size, motor output, pricing or market-by-market launch timing beyond the Paris premiere window.

Wolfgang Ufer, CEO of smart Europe, described the vehicle as “the first concrete outlook on the reinvention of our iconic two-seater,” adding that the concept reflects how European smart customers “truly live and move — effortless, agile, and efficient.” Kai Sieber, head of design for smart at Mercedes-Benz Design, said the concept carries the fortwo heritage into a new era where practicality and personal expression are meant to coexist.
