News Spotted: New Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Logo

Spotted: New Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Logo

Readying for more Corvette Launch

  • Still waiting for confirmation of Z06 powerplant

  • Expected to be first performance variant C8

Chevrolet has been surprisingly silent, or at least coy, when it comes to details about the performance versions of the C8. Especially when you look at just how much they teased the basic Stingray versions of the mid-engine sports car for months (if not years) ahead of time. Now the logo for the Z06 model has leaked, giving us that hit we’ve needed for months.

It’s simple and plain, though we’re not sure what is going on with the shape of the zed in the Z06 logo that was captured and posted to Instagram by AllCarNews. It could be a representation of the side inlets of the C8, or maybe some reference to the flat-plane crank that’s been rumoured for the engine powering this one. Either way, it looks pretty cool.

We still don’t know what that badge will mean as far as the car is concerned, but the rumours put it well over 600 hp and somewhere in the neighbourhood of 5.5 L. The eight-speed auto from the base C8 Chevrolet Corvette will probably still be in place, and we’re not expecting forced induction on the Z06 model.

We are expecting world-class performance on the track thanks to the new engine as well as aerodynamic upgrades to improve the amount of stick that the tires can generate. The Stingray C8 offers a 6.2L V8 making 495 hp and can hit 100 km/h in under three seconds. The Z06 version will need to beat those figures, but we’re expecting more to come from later, even quicker Corvette variants.

When will the Z06 debut? We’re not sure, but expect loads of “leaks,” both official and unofficial to come in the weeks leading up to it.
