Stellantis may launch vehicles priced under $30,000 U.S. in response to rising market prices.

Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa said the automaker plans to broaden its product lineup to include more affordable vehicles, including potential offerings below the $30,000 ($41,000 CDN) threshold.
Speaking at the Detroit Auto Show on Wednesday, Filosa outlined a two-part approach to vehicle affordability: increasing value while lowering price points, and growing the company’s lineup of smaller and lower-cost models. “A combination of value proposition with being competitive in the price offer, this is one way,” he said. “The other way is the product lineup.”

He pointed to recent Jeep brand price adjustments and the upcoming launch of a new midsize Ram pickup as early examples of the changes.
Filosa said Stellantis will introduce additional vehicles priced under $40,000 U.S. ($55,000 CDN) and is “investigating” options under $30,000. The Jeep Compass, which starts just above $30,000 ($37,000 CDN) including destination fees, currently serves as the company’s lowest-priced offering in North America.
The announcement comes as affordability concerns in the U.S. and Canadian markets, where average new vehicle prices have climbed to around $50,000 and over $60,000, respectively. Ongoing tariffs have added further pricing pressure.
The shift marks a departure from strategies under former CEO Carlos Tavares, who prioritized higher prices across Stellantis brands to boost margins. One lower-cost model previewed during Tavares’ tenure, a $25,000 electric Jeep SUV, remains a reference point as the company explores affordable powertrain options. Filosa said Stellantis is evaluating multi-energy vehicles at lower price levels across brands.

Chrysler Pacifica Update
Stellantis has also confirmed it will launch a refreshed version of the Windsor-built Chrysler Pacifica minivan in the second quarter of 2026, with the update expected between April and June.
The company announced plans for a 2026 refresh in mid-2025 but did not specify a timeline until now. The Pacifica remains a key product for Stellantis in Canada, where sales rose 95% in 2025 to 10,671 units. The Windsor-built Grand Caravan also saw a 30% increase, contributing to a 61% rise in overall Chrysler brand sales in Canada.
