At Stellantis, delays have become the norm for vehicle launches. This time, the setbacks involve the Jeep Grand Wagoneer extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and the Ram 1500 REV, two models the company has pegged as central to its electrified future.
The Jeep Grand Wagoneer EREV would now enter production in November, having originally been slated for last May
The Ram 1500 REV is now expected in April 2027
Both trucks share the same battery and electric motor architecture
Just Cause ?
According to supplier notices cited by Automotive News, production of the 2026 Grand Wagoneer EREV would now kick off in November at Stellantis’ Warren plant near Detroit, rather than in May as originally planned.
Stellantis, for its part, isn’t framing this as a delay in its official messaging, maintaining that the launch is still on track for 2026, just later in the year than originally stated.
As for the Ram 1500 REV, the wait looks even longer. Production of the extended-range electric pickup would now start in mid-April 2027, roughly nine months behind schedule.
Two executives told the outlet that the extra time is being used to fine-tune the rollout of the shared 400-volt battery and electric motor combination. Because both trucks ride on the same architecture, a slip in one program drags the other down.
One Name, Two Lives
It’s worth remembering that the Ram 1500 REV badge originally belonged to an all-electric pickup. That project was shelved, but the name was later recycled for the extended-range version now in the pipeline.
For prospective buyers, this new timeline puts Ram behind its American rivals, which already offer fully electric trucks. That said, with an extended-range setup, one backed by a gas engine whose sole job is recharging the battery, Ram could end up with the edge once these trucks finally arrive. Note that Ford has announced a similar version of its F-150.
There’s nothing to do but wait, but we’ll admit we’re eager to see these models and, especially, to dig into their technology.
