Stellantis is evaluating the Jeep Avenger for North America, potentially filling Jeep’s subcompact SUV gap.
The Avenger’s electric, hybrid, and gasoline options could appeal to budget-conscious and urban-focused buyers.
Rising costs and demand for affordable vehicles make the Avenger a strategic fit for Jeep’s lineup.
Stellantis is considering bringing the Jeep Avenger (not to be confused with the Dodge Avenger), its smallest global SUV, to North America to expand its affordable vehicle options. While no official decision has been announced, Stellantis Canada President Jeff Hines suggested the Avenger could be well-suited for the Canadian market.
The Jeep Avenger is currently available in European markets and has gained popularity. Built on Stellantis’ Common Modular Platform (CMP), it comes in three powertrain configurations: all-electric, hybrid, and gasoline. In 2023, the Avenger outsold the entire Alfa Romeo brand in Europe, showing its strong market appeal.
“We have a Jeep Avenger in Europe today that I think would be a fantastic product for Canada,” Hines said. “It fits the small SUV growth that we see everywhere. I think it solves a lot of affordability problems, and those are some of the things that we’re working on to get everybody a little bit more back in the game.”
If introduced in North America, the Avenger could fill Jeep’s subcompact SUV void after the Renegade’s discontinuation in 2023. The electric version offers an estimated 400 km of range per charge, while hybrid and gasoline options would provide alternatives for customers not yet ready to switch to EVs.
A North American launch of the Avenger could also set the stage for Jeep’s future small SUV lineup. The company has hinted at a next-generation Renegade, expected in 2027, which would complement the Avenger by offering a slightly larger option in the segment. Another option is to rename the Avenger the Renegade when it arrives. As well, the Avenger/Renegade could open up the possibility of introducing the Fiatt 600e on our market.

Rising financing costs and inflation have increased demand for more affordable vehicles, making the Avenger a potential solution for budget-conscious buyers. Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf has already implemented price cuts on models like the Wagoneer, Gladiator, and Grand Cherokee to make Jeep vehicles more accessible.
Stellantis has yet to confirm plans for the Avenger in North America, but the model’s European success and market fit suggest it could become a key part of Jeep’s strategy in the region.
