For 2022, the Subaru Ascent is getting a new Onyx Edition. It brings blacked-out trim, 20-inch wheels, and a special interior to the big three-row crossover. Aside from that new offering, the rest of the Ascent is unchanged. Including the price.

The Subaru Ascent is the largest vehicle the brand offers here, with three rows of seating and a standard 2.4L turbocharged boxer-four. Every 2022 Ascent gets all-wheel drive and X-Mode off-road chassis settings, as well as EyeSight driver assist with steering-responsive LED headlights, seat belt reminder, and loads more driver aids, starting from $32,295 in the U.S. for the basic eight-passenger version.

Climbing through the trim packages are Premium for $37,795 with blind-spot and lane change assist, tinted glass, leather steering wheel, and heated front seats. The Subaru Ascent Onyx edition starts from $37,995 and gets black trim and badging, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and wears synthetic leather StarTex seats. That material is water repellent and made for easy cleanup. Onyx also adds reverse automatic braking, heated wheel, keyless access, and a hands-free tailgate.

Limited is $39,595 and drops the Onyx trim for more chrome and ELD fog lights but gets leather seats and seat bottom extensions plus heated second-row seats. Offered in seven or eight seats, it’s $39,595 plus destination.

At the top of the line is the $45,445 2022 Ascent Touring with its own special satin chrome trim, java brown perforated seating, and ventilation for the front chairs. It gets navigation and an upgraded 14-speaker audio system.

Expect the 2022 Subaru Ascent at dealers this summer.
