Subaru has one of the most loyal group of buyers in the world. Even, and of late, they’ve neglected who we think are the most important buyers: Enthusiasts. And Subie knows it. As such, the Japanese automaker will debut two STI concept models and a new electric vehicle concept at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The show’s press days are scheduled for October 29–30, with public viewing from October 31 to November 9 at Tokyo Big Sight.

The company’s booth will operate under the theme “Driving the Subaru Difference,” dividing its display into two distinct areas: the “Performance Scene,” which is self-explanatory, and the “Adventure Scene,” focused on outdoor-oriented versatility.
Subaru’s goal here is clear: They are committed to delivering vehicles for all.
Performance Concepts and EV Focus
Highlighted in Subaru’s performance-focused display will be a new, Performance-E STI Concept EV intended to represent the brand’s next-generation direction. It combines aerodynamic design and spacious interiors with a driver-focused layout. Subaru says the vehicle incorporates innovative technologies to offer an intuitive and responsive driving experience, while also referencing design elements from its heritage. Most importantly, the letters STI appear in its name, creating hope that there will be an electric STI in the not-too-distant future.

The Performance-B STI concept, a second world premiere, features an internal combustion engine and uses core Subaru technologies, including the horizontally opposed engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The model is designed to combine performance with practicality, without compromising on driving dynamics. The next STI? The one we’ve been asking for since the last STI was pulled about four years ago? The new STI that will be introduced on the 6th-generation Impreza platform?
Trailseeker, Wilderness Models Grow Adventure Lineup
Subaru’s Adventure Scene will introduce the Trailseeker prototype, a Japan debut. This all-electric crossover, which already debuted in North America, represents the second model in Subaru’s global BEV lineup.
Subaru will also present two Wilderness prototypes based on existing nameplates. The Forester Wilderness prototype adds rugged bumpers, wider cladding, and exclusive LED fog lamps, all in the name of off-road capabilities. Meanwhile, the Outback Wilderness prototype builds on the standard Outback design with improvements to suspension, functionality, and terrain performance.
Heritage Model Reimagined
Rounding out the exhibit is the Hoonigan-built 1983 Subaru GL Family Huckster, a heritage revival developed by Subaru of America’s motorsports division with no less than 862 horsepower. Based on the original GL Wagon, the Huckster retains little more than its front grille, which is brilliant. You may have seen it in action in the capable hands of Travis Pastrana in 2022’s Gymkhana.
The Subaru booth will be located in East Exhibition Hall 5 and will visually separate the Performance and Adventure themes to reflect the dual nature of the brand’s strategy. All concept vehicles will be on display throughout the public days of the show.
