News Subaru WRX STI S209 Lined Up For North America!

Subaru WRX STI S209 Lined Up For North America!

At least, this is what a filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) would have us believe.

First thing’s first: An S20X Subaru is a limited-run of internally modified cars that were once offered only on the Japanese domestic market. Said modifications typically include some carbon fibre bits, more aero, a revised suspension and more power.

The previous S208, once more a JDM-only car, had 323-horsepower (from 305) and all the aforementioned bits. The S209 should follow suit with hopefully a generous bump in power.

Over the years and iterations, the S20X would be obtainable via lottery as between 400 and 450 units were produced. Once more, we expect the S209 to be limited as well.

If anything is clear from this rumour, it is that Subaru’s not wasting any opportunity to move more WRX STI cars in the wake of the highly anticipated next-generation STI slated for 2020.
