- Hyundai teases Palisade N on its Instagram account
The Hyundai Palisade is a decent three-row mid-size SUV quite capable of playing in the same field as segment heavyweights like the Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander. But is it fun to drive? Will it get your heart racing? Will it evoke any kind of emotional response?
The answer is no. It’s not meant to either nor is any other mid-size SUV with which it competes. That’s probably why this Hyundai Palisade N teased on Hyundai’s instagram account is so appealing. It’s unexpected, it’s ridiculous, and it’s like nothing we’ve seen before from a mid-size SUV. Well, if you don’t count the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT or Trackhawk. Actually, the Ford Explorer ST would probably be the most direct competitor to a Palisade N.
Now, don’t get too excited because this is your typical automaker April Fools joke. The chances of actually seeing a Hyundai Palisade N are about as good as the world returning to normal by Easter.
Still, we can’t help but speculate a little bit. If Hyundai did produce the Palisade N, it would need to give it an engine that matches the goods. The base 3.8-litre V6 delivers a decent 291 horsepower, but you need at least 350 or 400 hp. Hyundai would have such an engine in its lineup, a 5.0-litre V8 that delivers 420 horsepower found in the Genesis G90 among others.
So c’mon Hyundai, you’re not doing anything these days. Why not get to planning the Palisade N?
