Tesla Drops Model S Plaid+ Because The Regular Plaid Is Good Enough

The world’s quickest production car, the Tesla Model S Plaid, will be offered minus the plus

  • The Plaid+ was to offer more than 520 miles (837 km) of range.

  • Plaid models feature a tri-motor setup good for 1,020 horsepower.

Reports about the upcoming hyper Model S from Tesla, known as Plaid, have circulated for a long while. Confirmation for the car came a while back and, as though its performance wasn’t enough, a Plaid+ with even more range was also announced. Now, it looks as though Musk has changed his mind on the latter.

This triple-motor powered Tesla Model S Plaid could be considered a response to the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and with over 1,000 horsepower, it certainly would put the German EV in its rear-view mirror in a drag race. With 390 miles (628 km) of range, it also shames the Porsche. The addition of the Plaid+, with 520 miles (837 km) of range, simply elevates the Tesla sedan to untouchable status.

In a tweet, as reported by engadget, Musk has said that the Plaid+ is canceled, the reason being that the Plaid is just so good.

The new Tesla Model S Plaid is priced from $159,990 in Canada and $112,990 in the US. The Plaid+ is still listed however cannot be selected. In Canada, it was priced at $199,990 and $142,990 in the US.
