Tesla’s FSD user base reached 15% of Tesla’s Global Fleet.
Quarterly FSD adoption grew by 200,000 users, the company’s largest reported gain.
Subscription revenue is becoming Tesla’s primary FSD monetization strategy.
Tesla has reported a significant increase in adoption of its Full Self-Driving (FSD – Supervised) driver assistance software, reaching 1.48 million active users worldwide at the end of the second quarter. The figure includes customers who previously purchased the feature outright, as well as those paying for a monthly subscription. The number excludes vehicles using temporary free trials.
The latest total represents an increase of approximately 200,000 users from the previous quarter, marking Tesla’s largest quarterly gain since it began disclosing active FSD user figures. Compared with the same period last year, the installed base has grown by 56%.
During Tesla’s second-quarter earnings call, Chief Financial Officer Vaibhav Taneja said that approximately 55% of new vehicle deliveries in North America included an active FSD subscription at the time of delivery. Tesla delivered 480,126 vehicles globally during the quarter.
Tesla continues to transition its advanced driver assistance software toward a subscription-based business model. According to Taneja, about 55% of the company’s current FSD customers purchased the feature before the upfront purchase option was withdrawn in most markets, while the remaining 45% are paying recurring monthly subscription fees.
The software currently costs US$99 (CDN$99) per month in markets where subscriptions are available. Tesla previously offered Full Self-Driving as a one-time purchase priced as high as US$15,000 before later reducing the upfront option to US$8,000.

Based on the current subscriber mix, Tesla estimates FSD generates approximately US$791 million in annual software revenue. Management indicated subscriptions are expected to account for a growing share of future FSD monetization as outright purchases are phased out across most regions.
Tesla also reported that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) has been launched in 12 countries as of June, with regulatory approvals being pursued in additional markets.
Using Tesla’s cumulative lifetime deliveries of approximately 9.7 million vehicles, the reported FSD user base represents an adoption rate of roughly 15.2% across the company’s global fleet.
The software remains classified as a supervised driver assistance system and does not provide fully autonomous vehicle operation.
