Tesla Sells 97,000 Vehicles in Q3 For New Record

Tesla says it sold 97,000 vehicles last quarter, mostly Model 3s.

  • Tesla delivers 79,600 Model 3 units in Q3
  • Sales increase 16.2% compared to Q3 2018
  • Q4 sales must surpass 105,000 to meet yearly objective

Tesla had a solid year-over-year growth in Q3 with 97,000 deliveries across the globe. Of the units sold, 79,600 were Model 3 units, while the balance were Tesla Model S and Model X vehicles.

Although this represents an increase of 16.2% over Q3 2018 and 1.9% over the second quarter of 2019. The Tesla Model 3 is mostly responsible for the increase as the Model S and X saw their sales decline by 33% over last year’s numbers.

Tesla shareholders were told sales would reach 360,000 to 400,000 units in 2019. To reach its goal, Tesla will need to deliver 105,000 units over the last three months of the year.
