A week after the unveiling of its electric semi-truck in California, Tesla offered more information on how it plans to price its latest project.
Three versions of the new electric Tesla truck will be available. The entry-level model with a range of 480 kilometers will be available starting from US $ 150,000 while the model with 800 kilometers of range will require US $ 180,000. A special version called Founders Series will be available for $ 200,000 US.
A deposit of US $ 20,000 will be required to reserve one of the first two versions while the Founding Series must be paid in full before delivery.
The Tesla semi-trailer truck is powered by four electric motors and can reach 100 km/h in 20 seconds even when fully loaded. It also has a remarkable drag coefficient of only 0.36. A little more expensive than the average diesel semi-trailer truck, the electric Tesla truck however saves the owner about 20% per mile traveled.
