$5,000 off for Canadian buyers taking delivery by end of year
First time we’ve seen discounts on Model 3 and Y in Canada
The new car market hasn’t seen much in the way of discounts in the last three years, either through cash off or low interest rates. But Tesla has just quietly added massive discounts for buyers who can take delivery of a Model 3 or Model Y before the end of the year.
Tesla added $3,750 in discounts to the Model 3 or Model Y in the U.S. earlier this month, but now that discount has exploded. Buyers who can take delivery by December 31st will now get a $7,500 credit as well as “10,000 miles of free Supercharging.” Tesla does not make it clear how it will determine the amount of charge that goes into those 10,000 miles of credit.
Buyers in the U.S. who purchase a Model S or X and take delivery by end of year will get 10,000 miles in free Supercharging.
In Canada, Tesla has added discounts for the first time. Model 3 and Model Y buyers who take delivery by end of year will get a $5,000 credit and 10,000 km of free Supercharging. We’ll point out that figure is significantly less charging than U.S. buyers receive.
Canadian Model S and X buyers will get the 10,000 km Supercharging credit, but no cash incentive.
It’s not unusual for Tesla to do end-of-quarter or end-of-year vehicle delivery pushes, usually in the form of Supercharging credits or other small incentives. This, however, combined with a recent change in their expected order delivery dates from almost a year to just a month or two, could show a serious shift in demand for the brand.
