That’s right, a minivan, which could come after the Cybertruck.
The $25,000 sub-Model 3 is about three years away.
The Model S is not expected to be physically updated before 2024.
The EV frenzy is in full swing and quite frankly, it’s as fascinating as it is dizzying. Tesla is, and is likely to remain for a while yet, at the heart of the storm. So far this year, Musk has said that a truly affordable EV is in the works, as are OTA updates for the Model X, and a minivan.
The affordable small car is an interesting bit of news. As we know, Tesla had an extremely hard time getting the $35,000 Model 3 out the door which leads many to believe that a $25,000 EV might be more than three years away.
Both the Model S, the oldest Tesla, and the Model X, the second oldest, are not expected to be redesigned before 2024, according to Automotive News. The Model X should receive OTA updates to upgrade its air suspension for a better overall driving experience.
The Cybetruck will be the next big launch, which is planned for late 2021. It will be built just outside Austin, Texas, it will be fast and extremely capable. 500,000 reservation holders are hoping that this will be true. The $200,000 Roadster would come after in 2022.
Finally, the minivan, should there be one, has no specific timeline. Musk said he would built for looks, possibly as a styling exercise, much like the Cybertruck. “One thing would be, can you make a minivan that looks good? Nobody’s ever done that,” he said.
