It will be a crossover or raised rugged-looking wagon.
It would seem that we will see the production version before the end of 2021.
Rumours of the coming of this car are nearly two and a half years old. We first reported on the possibility of such a vehicle back in July of 2018, and again in July of 2019. And, as of now, it seems as though the Ford Fusion Activ is officially on its way.
Spy photos of the raised and camouflaged Ford Fusion were shared by Ford Authority and from what can be seen in the images, everyone’s predictions seem spot on. The extended roofline, despite the camo, is clearly visible, as is the slightly increased (over a sedan) ride height. It seems fairly obvious that this vehicle’s target is the Subaru Outback.
The story goes that the Fusion Activ will be based on Ford’s C2 platform, the same that underpins multiple SUVs including the all-new Bronco Sport and the anticipated compact Maverick pickup. Our sole concern here is the turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that severely lacks refinement in the tested Escape.
The Ford Fusion Activ’s projected model year is 2022 which would normally mean that we can expect to see a final production model before the end of 2021.
