The 2023 Geneva International Motor Show Moves Exclusively to Doha, Qatar

Ongoing global uncertainties have forced the Geneva Motor Show to change its location and dates

  • It was planned for February 2023 in Geneva.

  • The revised event will take place in November of 2023.

It’s clear that, based on the press release, the ” Comité permanent du Salon international de l’automobile de Genève” foundation was not entirely happy about announcing the 2023 edition of the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) will be held exclusively in Doha, Qatar.

The original plan for 2023, to make up for lost time, was to host two Geneva International Motor Shows. The first was to be held from February 14 to 19, 2023 at the Palexpo in Geneva, and the second one, a “world premiere” event in November in Doha, Qatar.

The world is still in a “state” as the pandemic isn’t quite over yet. It is therefore still too risky to invest heavily in the February portion of the GIMS which means there will be only one show.

“Due to the uncertainties in the global economy and geopolitics, as well as the risks related to the development of the pandemic, the organisers have decided to focus exclusively on the planning of the event in Doha in 2023,” says Maurice Turettini, President of the foundation “Comité permanent du Salon international de l’automobile de Genève”.

The first edition of the Geneva International Motor Show Qatar will take place in November 2023 and will be held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC) and several other decentralized venues to enjoy many unique and spectacular driving experiences.
