Taking the SUV experience to a new level, Toyota unveils its all-new 2024 C-HR, an avant-garde successor to its predecessor and a potent symbol of the brand’s enduring commitment to European customers. With its distinctive “super-coupe” profile, advanced technologies, and electrified hybrid powertrains, the new C-HR exemplifies both innovation and sustainability.
Toyota’s radical reimagining of the C-HR’s exterior design enhances its road presence, with diamond-cut character lines along the side, flush door handles, and short overhangs. The redesigned face of the Toyota SUVs also features on the all-electric bZ4X and new Prius, with a keen and piercing look indicating readiness for forward surge. Aerodynamic efficiency has also been a key focus in the C-HR’s design, ensuring optimal airflow over and around the vehicle.
The C-HR’s interior has also undergone a transformation, with an emphasis on modern comfort and functionality. All control elements are concentrated in the driver’s zone, creating an enveloping sense of comfort for the passengers. The vehicle’s ambient lighting system offers a variety of up to 64 colors to reflect the cabin environment or the time of day.
A personalized user experience is a standout feature of the new Toyota C-HR. From an automatic welcome scenario as the driver approaches the vehicle, to preferred settings for seat position, digital instrument display, and multimedia screen, the car offers an intuitive and customizable experience. This includes a new, 12.3-inch fully digital combimeter (depending on trim grade), a digital key system, and the Toyota Smart Connect multimedia package.
In terms of power, the all-new C-HR comes with a choice of 1.8 and 2.0-litre hybrid electric (HEV) versions and a 2.0-litre plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) model. The 2.0-litre HEV variant offers the option of intelligent all-wheel drive (AWD-i). Additionally, the 2.0-litre PHEV model has a unique geofencing function that automatically switches the car to EV operation when it enters a low emission zone (LEZ).
Safety is a key concern with the C-HR, with the latest Toyota Safety Sense portfolio of active safety and driver assistance features installed. Key developments include new Acceleration Suppression, Proactive Driving Assist (PDA), and Steering Assist, which are designed to provide greater safeguards against common accident risks.
Supporting sustainability has been a major focus in the development of the new C-HR. Recycled plastics have been doubled in content compared to the predecessor, featuring in over 100 different parts. The bumpers are formed from a pre-coloured resin material expected to save hundreds of tonnes of CO2. Further, design and technology measures have been taken to reduce the car’s weight.
Lastly, the Toyota C-HR promises a dynamic driving experience with intuitive acceleration performance, redesigned and tuned suspension, brakes, and steering for optimal ride comfort and responsiveness. With extensive testing across diverse roads and weather conditions, the Toyota C-HR ensures an enjoyable, agile, and responsive handling.
All that remains to know is whether Toyota will bring the new C-HR to North America. We think that, in this guise, it’s never had a better at some kind of sales success.
