The Range Rover Sport Electric shares its 542-hp powertrain with the larger Range Rover Electric.
Along with its smaller proportions, the Range Rover Sport EV promises dynamism with a quicker torque response.
The manufacturer estimates this model’s real-world range at about 536 kilometres.
Less than a month after having fully unveiled the upcoming 2027 Range Rover Electric, the British automaker has lifted the veil on its second electric vehicle, the closely related Range Rover Sport Electric.
Like the larger EV, the Range Rover Sport Electric is based on the MLA-Flex platform, which is conceived to accommodate all current types of powertrains: Combustion, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric.
Thanks to this adaptability, the electric version of the Range Rover Sport will be manufactured on the same production line as the current gasoline-powered and plug-in models, in Solihull, UK.
Using this platform also means that the Range Rover Sport Electric features the same powertrain as the full-size Range Rover Electric, down to identical power and torque outputs.

Indeed, both electric Range Rovers can claim to deliver 542 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via two motors.
Due to its smaller size and lower weight, the Range Rover Sport is slightly quicker to 60 mph (96 km/h), completing the acceleration sprint in 4.3 seconds, or 0.2 seconds faster than the full-size model.
In addition to this small gain in performance, the Range Rover Sport Electric will offer a more dynamic driving feel thanks to unique throttle tuning, which means that the powertrain’s torque output ramps up 50% quicker than in the Range Rover Electric.
Furthermore, the Range Rover Sport EV’s Intelligent Traction Management system and its air suspension both receive different tuning to improve handling and performance. The Adaptive Dynamics 2 system monitors 100 parameters 500 times per second in order to provide better control over pitch and roll when cornering, while the all-wheel steering system makes for greater agility and stability.

To further enhance the Range Rover Sport’s driving experience, the automaker developed a distinct acoustic signature for this model compared to the full-size Range Rover EV.
In terms of range, the company claims the same real-world figure of about 536 kilometres for both of its electric models, which will have to be confirmed by independent testing once they arrive on sale in North America.
Like the other electric Range Rover, the Sport features an 800-volt electrical architecture that is said to enable charging the 118.5 kWh battery from 10 to 80% in 22 minutes and adding up to 220 km of range in 10 minutes.
Again, like the full-size Range Rover Electric, the Range Rover Sport Electric differs from its combustion-powered counterpart only in small details, with the overall look remaining remarkably consistent across powertrains.

The main distinguishing features are the aero-optimized front grille and low-drag alloy wheels, which both contribute to increasing range by about 16 kilometres at stable highway speeds.
While performance and dynamism are the main focus of the Range Rover Sport Electric, it maintains strong off-road credentials in the form of its 900 mm wading height and capability to climb 45-degree inclines.
To showcase these capabilities, Range Rover brought its latest model to Italy, where it completed a series of challenges in marble quarries, such as climbing smooth Carrara marble grades and ascending peaks covered in marble dust.
Previously, the Range Rover Sport Electric had also climbed the 999 steps of China’s Heaven’s Gate and an Icelandic spillway, along with establishing a record time for the 14,110ft Pikes Peak Hill Climb.

Internationally, the 2027 Range Rover Sport Electric is available in Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography, and First Edition trim levels.
The latter commemorates the start of production with a unique satin Zadar Gray paint job with a black roof and alloy wheels, while the Autobiography opens the door to the automaker’s Bespoke commissioning service, which allows customers to choose from a very wide selection of paint colours, interior finishes, and custom embroidery to personalize their vehicle.
Canadian pricing should be announced shortly, as order books opened earlier today for the Range Rover Sport in Europe.
