Porsche hasn’t lied to us! There’s a manual Porsche 911 on the way!
The all-new 992 generation of the Porsche 911 was the talk of 2018. Nearly a year later after our first encounter with the car, we’re still quite intoxicated with the 992’s styling, technology and performance. There was only one thing missing, until now.
There’s a picture floating about on the internet that shows the interior of a 992 Porsche 911 with the prominently displayed element all driving enthusiasts crave: a manual shifter. The original image also depicts a pair of steering racks on the passenger seat but we’ll leave everyone else to speculate on what that is all about.
The shifter look completely at home near the top of the center console, if not a little isolated. The central portion of the shifter is reminiscent of a typical Porsche unit however the boot, fitted to perfection over the square-ish hole looks off – I’m paid to complain…
No matter what, the manual transmission is on its way. Yes, we all know the 8-speed Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) is the best weapon for speed but the 7-speed (we’re guessing) manual gearbox is and will always be a sacred affair.
