Chevrolet teased the EV Silverado in a 4 second video in which we see the truck’s glass roof
The full reveal of the truck will happen at the CES in Las Vegas on January 5, 2022
The truck should have more than 400 miles (644 kilometers) of range
Chevrolet has released a very short video, only four seconds long, in which we can get a first glimpse of the upcoming electric Silverado.
In the video, an image shot from the top-down shows that the truck will have a fixed glass roof extending for the whole length of the cab.
Through the glass, a huge touch screen is visible. It appears to be set horizontally and to start just to the left of the passenger and it could be merged with the gauge cluster, similar to how Mercedes-Benz vehicles, but in a single screen instead of two.
That same screen also appears to be slightly tilted towards the driver, giving the dashboard a more driver focussed look.
Some silver-accented knobs are visible under the screen, meaning that all functions will not be integrated in the infotainment system. On the center console is what appears to be cupholders.
The logo for the new truck is flashed at the end of the clip and it shows the regular “SILVERADO” logo with the “E” losing its vertical bar and turning blue.
Chevrolet has not released many details yet, but we know the truck will use General Motors’ new Ultium platform and motors that will underpin the GMC Hummer EV. This platform will provide the Silverado EV over 400 miles (644 kilometers) of range and a four-wheel steering system similar to the one in the Hummer, although the availability of that truck’s “crab mode” hasn’t been confirmed.
We also know that the Silverado EV will be offered in both fleet and retail models and only the last one will have the teased glass roof.
The truck will be fully revealed by GM’ CEO herself, Marry Barra, on the opening day of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on the 5th of January 2022.
