It will be optional on full-M and M Sport Package vehicles.
The official 50th anniversary happens on May 24th, 2022.
Other than the badges, BMW will also offer 50 iconic and significant M colours.
BMW M cars are some of the most sought-after performance luxury vehicles in the world and have been for nearly 50 years. To mark this achievement and occasion, BMW will offer buyers of BMW M automobiles or BMW models equipped with an M Sport package the opportunity to identify them as 50th-anniversary vehicles.
Starting in March 2022, all “M” vehicle buyers will have the opportunity to select the BMW Motorsport GmbH logo with the shifted blue, violet, and red semicircles. The emblem, which first appeared in 1973, will be featured on the front, rear, and wheel hubs of the vehicles.
“With the classic ‘BMW Motorsport’ emblem, we would like to share our joy about the anniversary of BMW M GmbH with the fans of the brand,” says Franciscus van Meel, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW M GmbH. “We have a great year ahead of us, which will be celebrated with unique product highlights and exciting performances. The M has long been considered the strongest letter in the world, and in our company’s anniversary year it is stronger than ever.”
Beyond the badges, BMW will enable customers to select from 50 iconic and historically significant BMW M paint finishes. They include Dakar Yellow, Fire Orange, Daytona Violet, Macao Blue, Imola Red, and Frozen Marina Bay Blue. All colours refer to various eras of BMW M’s 50-year history.
Lastly, 2022 will also mark the launch of the first-ever BMW M3 Touring, aka wagon. And no, it’s not for North Americans.
