The Drako GTE was unveiled in 2019, but deliveries were delayed and an updated version will be sold instead
The Dragon will be more powerful than the 1,200 horsepower GTE
It is based on the Karma Revero, which dates from 2012
The Drako Dragon is an electric hypercar that will be revealed in January 2022 which is a reworked version of the Drako GTE that was shown back in 2019.
The Drako GTE was a sports car powered by four electric motors that produced a total of 1,200 horsepower.
The production of this car was intended to begin in 2021, but delays made that impossible and the electric car market changed so much since 2019 that the company decided to rework the GTE to keep it competitive with the new entries in the electric sports car market.
The new model is called Dragon and the company promises it will be even more powerful than the GTE, with modifications to all of the vehicle’s system.
The suspension, for example, is adjustable in five ways to provide better performance and the batteries have been upgraded to provide more range, but also more sustained power on the track.
Official performance figures have not been revealed, but it seems likely the Dragon will target a sub-3 second 0 to 60 mph (0 to 96 km/h) in order to compete with the Tesla Model S Plaid.
Where the Drako Dragon might struggle is in terms of appearance, since the teaser images show a similar appearance to the Drako GTE of 2019, which is itself a reworked version of the Karma Revero, which is itself a very lightly retouched Fisker Karma, a model that was introduced in 2012.
To be fair, the Karma had very futuristic looks in 2012 that wouldn’t be out of place on a new car and the GTE had done a good job at modernising the package, but that might not be enough to attract buyers, especially considering the price tag.
Indeed, the official price for the Dragon hasn’t been revealed, but the GTE was supposed to have a price tag of $1.3 million USD, more than a million dollars higher than the Model S Plaid with which it wants to compete.
The Dragon will therefore have to be very special and full of high end technology to justify such an expense.
