The Electric 2027 Mercedes-Benz CLA Starts at $55,987 in Canada

• The electric coupe-like sedan is offered with two powertrain configurations and a few option packages.

Mercedes-Benz Canada has announced pricing for the electric 2027 CLA, the first model from the brand’s latest generation of EVs to reach our market.

Styled in keeping with its predecessor, the new CLA features a sloping roofline that, according to Mercedes-Benz, makes it qualify as a coupe rather than a sedan.

While its profile and rear end bear similarities to the old CLA, the front end is distinctively new, with a wide oval “grille” pattern that surrounds the Mercedes star.

On the upcoming hybrid versions, this panel will be a traditional grille, but the EV features a solid plastic panel instead for aerodynamic reasons. This decision means that at a first glance, it is difficult to tell which powertrain hides under the hood.

Being the first of Mercedes-Benz’s new-gen EVs, the 2027 CLA introduces the brand’s new design language, which places heavy emphasis on the star motif, which can be seen within the grille panel and as part of the headlamps and taillamps.

Buyers of the electric CLA will have the choice of two powertrains on the Canadian market, starting with the rear-wheel drive CLA 250+.

As with other single-motor electric vehicles, this version offers both a lower price and longer range than the dual-motor all-wheel drive variant, dubbed CLA 350 4Matic in this case.

The CLA 250+ will be available at a starting price of $55,987 on the Canadian market.

For this price, buyers will receive an electric compact sedan that features 268 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque, along with up to 602 kilometres of range on a full charge.

This power output should be sufficient for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 6.6 seconds, and Mercedes-Benz claims a 320-kW peak charging rate will be able to add 300 to 350 km of range in 15 to 20 minutes.

Drivers who want more power and better winter capabilities can select the CLA 350 4Matic, starting at $61,987.

Thanks to its additional motor, this version can sprint to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and features an output of 349 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

Range is rated at a still commendable 502 kilometers.

Both versions of the electric CLA will come standard with features such as the fourth-generation MB.OS infotainment operating system with a 14-inch screen, a 10.25-inch digital driver information display, 7 years of complimentary connected services, heated power front seats with 3 memory positions, a panoramic glass roof, Artico leatherette upholstery, a single zone automatic climate control system, a heated steering wheel with touch-sensitive control pads, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rain-sensing wipers, all of the most common driver assistance and active safety features, and 17-inch alloy wheels with aerodynamic covers.

For both models, the $600 Night package can be added to benefit from blacked-out exterior and interior trim.

Similarly, buyers can add the $2,600 AMG Line package, which includes AMG-specific front and rear bumpers, 18-inch alloy wheels, a sport steering wheel and front seats, metal-trimmed sport pedals, logo light projectors, silver trim for the dashboard air vents, Artico and micro fibre AMG upholstery, and carbon style metal accents.

For an even sportier and more premium look, the $4,200 AMG Line Plus package adds a gloss black AMG rear spoiler, 19-inch AMG wheels, dark accents for the air vents, and red seatbelts.

Apart from these styling packages, Mercedes-Benz also offers two other optional packages, the $3,100 Exclusive Trim package, and the $4,900 Pinnacle Trim package.

The first adds to the list of standard features items such as a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a rear center armrest, LED ambient lighting with 64-colours, the keyless entry system, motorized retractable door handles, and automated parking assist.

The Pinnacle Trim includes Multibeam LED headlamps, a 14-inch screen for the front passenger, a head-up display, a 1-year complimentary access to the MBUX Entertainment package, the automated parking assist system with a 360-degree camera, a power trunk lid with foot sensor, and illuminated door sills.

Further individual options can be added, such as the $100 front seat massage function, $1,200 Burmester 16-speaker premium audio system, $1,600 head up display (included in the Pinnacle trim), $500 augmented reality navigation, a $300 integrated dashcam, $500 rear side airbags, a $400 home charging cable, and the $1,800 active park assist with 360-degree camera (included with the Pinnacle trim).

Buyers can also add the $2,800 MB Drive Assist package, which brings lane keeping assist, lane change assist, and traffic sign recognition.

Other optional extras include paint colours, priced from $1,100 to $2,400, different wheel designs, priced from $800 to $1,200, black leather or AMG black leather upholstery priced at $2,100, and interior finishes including aluminum ($200) and wood ($400).

While this makes the 2027 Mercedes-Benz CLA highly customizable, it also means that if you get carried away with the options list, you can end up with a CLA 250+ priced over $76,000 or a CLA 350 4Matic priced over $86,000.

It is important to note, however, that the entry-level CLA 250+ is eligible to the $5,000 federal EV incentive thanks to its $49,900 MSRP, which comes under the $50,000 cutoff for the program.

To that, Quebec residents can subtract another $2,000, which can be applied to models whose MSRP is under $65,000, which includes some versions of the CLA 350 4Matic as well.
