This model is electric only at the moment, but a hybrid version should be added in 2024.
The new Fiat 600e can be equipped with a level-2 driver assistance system.
The automaker has yet to say if this model will be offered in North America.
While Fiat only has the 500x left to offer North American buyers, its lineup in Europe is rather more complete, and still growing.
Indeed, the Italian company has just unveiled the 600e, a new electric crossover based on the recent Jeep Avenger, the brand’s first EV.
Like other Fiat models, the 600e features a strong family look which means it seems to be a slightly larger 500e.
At first, this crossover will be offered only with an electric powertrain, but a hybrid version will be added later in 2024.
According to Fiat, the 600e will feature a 54-kWh battery pack that will make for a WLTP range of 400 kilometres in combined driving. Charging rates will go up to 100 kW on a DC fast charger, thus allowing the battery to go from 20 to 80% in 27 minutes. Most drivers will charge at home, however, where an 11-kW charger will deliver a full charge in less than 6 hours.
Power will come from a single electric motor mounted on the front axle that will offer an output of 156 horsepower, which should make for a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of about 9 seconds according to the automaker.
The Fiat 600e will be available in three trim levels, the most expensive of which will come with features that haven’t been seen on the brand’s cars before, such as a massaging driver’s seat, a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a hands-free power liftgate, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a selectable ambient lighting system.
Also new is a level-2 driver assistance system that combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centring assist in order to reduce the driver’s workload on the highway.
European buyers will be able to order the new Fiat starting tomorrow and deliveries are expected to begin at the beginning of fall.
The automaker has yet to say if the 600e will be offered in North America, but the Jeep on which it is based is still only available overseas. Then again, the new 500e will make it to our shores, so Fiat might decide to also bring its larger counterpart.
