The Fisker Ocean was revealed Yesterday and its official launch is set for later today
It will be a compact SUV aimed at the Tesla Model Y and the Ford Mustang Mach-E
The SUV has a futuristic design and makes use of recycled materials
Fisker unveiled its Ocean Compact electric SUV yesterday evening as a preview for the official launch that is set for later today at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Very few details have been revealed about the mechanical aspect of the vehicle, but its final style was shown under all angles in an event held on the Manhattan Beach pier, in Manhattan Beach California, where the company is headquartered.
This was a fitting décor since the SUV was overlooking the ocean, for which it is named, and the Fisker logo was designed to recall a sunset over the Pacific Ocean, according to Henrik Fisker, the automaker’s founder.
The Ocean will be marketed in the very competitive compact SUV market and it will aim squarely at the Tesla Model Y and the Ford Mustang Mach-E, which it will both undercut in terms of price with its $37,499 base price in the United States.
Fisker is returning to the automotive business after the Fisker Karma went out of production in 2013. The Ocean is the first model that will reach the market, an electric sedan and an electric truck will follow it in the years to come.
Production of the Ocean should begin later in 2022 at Magna-Steyr’s factory in Austria, since the two companies are manufacturing partners
The CEO said that the company had a few surprises in reserve for the Auto Show, so we will have to wait a few hours to hear more from the automaker about its plans for the future.
