The Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition Will Hit 60 MPH In 3.5 Seconds

Late next summer, the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition will remind us that this is in fact a Mustang


  • Given what we know about EV performance data, it’ll probably be even faster.

  • System output will be of 480 horsepower and 634 lb.-ft. of torque.

  • The Performance Edition will also include a number of other enhancements.


We’ve just be given the opportunity to test-drive the all-new 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E and, although we can’t say anything about the experience yet, it has shed more light on the fact that the Mach-E needs to exist in order to ensure that the sports car will have a future. Next year’s Ford Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition might be a sign of things to come.

The idea is simple: More power = more speed. And to handle more speed, the vehicle gets a number of highly desirable upgrades. The Performance Edition Mach-E will be blessed with 480 horsepower and 634 lb.-ft. of torque which should enable the heavy electric SUV to launch to 60 mph in only 3.5 seconds.

Also included in the EV‘s performance package will be huge 19-inch front Brembo brakes, 20-inch Ebony Black-painted wheels mounted by 245/45R20 Pirelli summer tires, and, most importantly, MagneRide damping. Also part of the package are Ford Performance front sport seats and other various interior touches.

“We already pushed the envelope by creating an electric vehicle with the pony badge, so it’s only natural that we push it even further,” said Darren Palmer, global director, battery electric vehicles, Ford Motor Company. “Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition not only gives you the added performance you expect from the GT name, but accentuates the thrill with the responsiveness of an all-electric powertrain.”

Finally, both the  Mustang Mach-E GT and Mustang Mach-E GT Performance Edition will be available in signature Mustang colors including Cyber Orange Metallic Tri-Coat, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, Rapid Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, Grabber Blue Metallic, Shadow Black, Iconic Silver Metallic and Space White Metallic.

Both Mach-E GTs are expected to be available as of late next summer.
