The Genesis GV60 Magma is 650 HP Hot

Genesis enters the high-performance market with the debut of GV60 Magma.

  • GV60 Magma debuts with 650 hp Boost Mode and 0–200 km/h acceleration in 10.9 seconds.

  • Digital interface features Drift Mode, VGS and HPBC for immersive high-performance driving experience.

Genesis has unveiled the GV60 Magma, its first high-performance production model, at the Circuit Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, France and at the 2025 LA Mobility show. The world premiere event marked the brand’s entry into the performance vehicle segment and outlined its strategic direction for the next decade under the “Luxury High Performance” vision.

José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company & Genesis, said the Magma project is a declaration of intent for Genesis’ next decade. “We’re not just building high-performance vehicles; we’re redefining what a luxury high-performance brand can be when Korean innovation meets global ambition,” he said.

The GV60 Magma builds on the design and engineering principles tested in previous Genesis concept vehicles. Powered by dual motors, the model delivers a combined 448 kW (609 hp) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque. Boost Mode temporarily increases output to 478 kW (650 hp) and 790 Nm (583 lb-ft), enabling the vehicle to reach a top speed of 264 km/h and accelerate from 0 to 200 km/h in 10.9 seconds using Launch Control.

The suspension system has been recalibrated with an updated geometry, Electronic Control Suspension (ECS), and End-of-Travel damping for improved ride and cornering stability. Front hydro bushings and dual-layer rear crossmember bushings reduce road vibrations. Braking components include large-diameter discs, front monoblock calipers, and high-friction rear pads, all optimized for the vehicle’s 21-inch forged wheels.

Exterior cues include a widened stance, lower height, and redesigned front and rear bumpers. The vehicle features Magma-exclusive components such as black high-gloss mouldings, dark metal accents, and 275 mm performance tires.

The interior uses Chamude materials with orange and grey accents across the seating and trim. A Magma-specific steering wheel includes a black emblem and dedicated drive mode and boost controls.

Drivers can select from Sprint, GT, and MY modes, with MY Mode enabling customization of key parameters such as the electronic limited-slip differential and stability control.

The GV60 Magma introduces “Magma Mode,” a digital interface that adapts the cluster and head-up display to show real-time performance data including battery temperature, g-force and remaining boost time. The Virtual Gear Shift System (VGS) simulates internal combustion gear changes by adjusting torque and regenerative braking while delivering engine-like sound cues.

The High-Performance Battery Control (HPBC) function maintains battery temperatures for optimal track performance. Drift Mode manages torque distribution and e-LSD settings to support rear-wheel-biased driving.

The GV60 Magma will first launch in the South Korean market in early 2025, followed by introductions in European and North American markets in 2026.
