The Honda Urban EV Concept broke the Internet when it was unveiled at the Frankfurt Auto Show in late 2017. The production Honda E is just as cool.
From the moment the world laid eyes on the Honda Urban EV Concept a year and half ago, the thought of owning an EV suddenly became like a cool thing to do. The Concept evolved from a 3-door EF Honda Civic hatchback-inspired toy into an only slightly more grown-up 5-door variant. Importantly, the Honda E has kept all of the concept’s charisma.
Specs are now available as reservations for priority ordering are currently open in select markets, not North America. The car’s description reads like an enthusiast’s dream EV. The high-power electric motor delivers approximately 150PS (110 kW) or 148-horsepower and an impressive 300Nm or 221 lb.-ft. of torque. The car’s mojo comes from a hyper-compact 35.5kWh battery which should in turn provide the car with over 200km of range. Also, it’ll have a “sport” drive mode!
Best of all? The Honda E is rear-wheel-drive, sports a perfect 50:50 weight distribution and has a fully-independent suspension. Could this be the Honda Civic revival Honda lovers have always wanted?
And wait, there’s more! The Honda E will include Single Pedal Control where braking will more than often will be performed via regenerative braking.
The sad part, for us, is that the car will only be available in UK, Germany, France, Norway and other European markets.
We’re convinced Honda will see fit to bring the Honda E to Canada and the US before long, or else…
