A final Farout Edition will close order books on the 3.0L diesel engine.
The EcoDiesel will no longer be offered with the Ram 1500 next year as well.
Despite not quite being the most reliable engine option, the turbocharged EcoDiesel 3.0L V6 is still quite an impressive mill. Even so, it’s rarely selected by Wrangler enthusiasts, and given emission regulations and all that, Jeep has decided to remove it from its available engine list.
In true Stellantis/FCA fashion, the end of something usually brings special or final editions. To celebrate the EcoDiesel’s finale, Jeep will offer an exclusive Farout version which will include a number of unique features and will be based on the popular Rubicon trim.

Among the many elements, as reported by Autoblog, will be a gloss black grille and LED lighting, a black hood graphic with “3.0 Diesel,” body-colored High Line fender flares, and two-color five-spoke wheels. Indoors, the Farout will throw in black leather seats with red cross-stitching, the Cold Weather Group, and many driving aids.
With the removal of the EcoDiesel engine from both the Wrangler and the Ram 1500’s menu in 2023, this leaves the Gladiator as the only vehicle in which it can be fitted next year. That is, assuming Jeep doesn’t announce the opposite in the coming weeks or months.
