The Last of the Seven 2023 Jeep Easter Safari Concepts are the Magneto 3.0 and a Retro Cherokee

Jeep teased the last of its 2023 Easter Rally concepts.

  • The company teased these seven concepts in three batches over the last few weeks.

  • The Magneto 3.0 is a continuation of a series of electric Wrangler models that were shown over the past two years.

  • The last model seems to be a modernized and electrified Cherokee or Wagoneer from the 60s or 70s.

Jeep has now teased all seven of the concepts it will unveil at this year’s Easter Rally which will take place over the first week of April in Moab, Utah.

The automaker uses this off-roading event to showcase a number of new concept vehicles every year and 2023 will be no exception, with seven models set to take the stage in about a week.

The theme for this year’s concepts appears to be electrification since it seems most if not all of the models that will be displayed will be powered by either a hybrid or a fully electric drivetrain.

The last two models to be teased using artist’s sketches are the Magneto 3.0 and a yet unnamed model that appears to be a modernized Jeep from the 60s or 70s.

The Magneto 3.0 is the successor to the Magneto and Magneto 2.0 which were launched at the last two events. This model is a fully electric prototype of the Wrangler which features beefy off-road tires and loud decals that identify it by spelling its name on each side of the hood.

Details haven’t been announced about this model, but the past two versions made 285 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque or 625 horsepower and 850 lb-ft of torque for the Magneto and Magneto 2.0 respectively.

It will be interesting to see if this progression in output will continue with the 3.0 version.

More than being just for show, Jeep reportedly uses the Magneto concepts to determine what a fully electric Wrangler should be.

The other concept previewed yesterday is different from the others since it is the only one not to be based on a current model from the Jeep lineup.

Indeed, the sketch shows the front end of what appears to be a Cherokee or Wagoneer from the 60s or 70s fitted with the bumper from a modern Wrangler.

This modernization effort is also expected to be seen under the hood since the automaker says both it and the Magneto 3.0 “push the boundaries of electrification”. This means that this model is likely to be fully electric or at least feature a hybrid powertrain.

A better look at each of the seven new concepts will be possible once their official reveal has taken place, at which time the details of their powertrains and capabilities should also be known.
