Turbocharged 2.0-litre engine produces 306 horsepower.
Both body styles carry the usual visual cues including quad exhaust tips.
The S3 is 15 mm lower to the ground than the A3 and rolls on standard 18-inch wheels.
Audi still knows how to design and build attractive cars. And some of the greatest ones they make are the smallest of them all, like the all-new A3. The new Audi S3 Sedan and Sportback strike a perfect balance between performance and prestige.
Both the S3 Sedan and superb Sportback are fitted with the latest Singleframe grille with its large rhombus-patterned design, flanked by large air inlets. The strong body lines flow from the headlights and give the compact car a hunkered down and powerful presence. Helping with this impression is the fact that the cars sit 15 mm closer to the ground, emphasizing the flared wheel arches and 18-inch wheels, which can be replaced by 19-inch units optionally.
Despite the compact exterior dimensions, the cabin is roomy and fitted with newly-designed sport seats. The front passengers face a standard 10.1-inch infotainment display. The 12.3-inch virtual cockpit is available to replace the standard 10.25-inch display. Control the central screen is the third generation modular infotainment platform (MIB 3) via the MMI. Included features are an integrated Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the Audi phone box.
Powering the new Audi S3 is the turbocharged 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engine which produces 306 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft. of torque. The power is sent to the quattro AWD system through the 7-speed S tronic automated manual transmission. For the new S3, Audi has resorted to a small toggle-like shifter to control the transmission, not unlike the one found in the new 992 Porsche 911.
Together, they send the S3 from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 4.8 seconds on the way to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.3 mph). The chassis can be upgraded with the available S sport suspension with damper control on request.
The new Audi S3 Sedan and Sportback are available for pre-sale as of now in many European countries. Deliveries will begin in October. The Audi S3 Sedan should make it to North America sometime next year.
