Power comes from a 3.0-litre twin-turbo EcoBoost V6.
It features Ford Performance developed FOX 2.5-inch Live Valve internal bypass shock absorbers.
Rumour has it that it will come to North America.
Like us, there are countless thousands of truck fans drooling at the very thought of the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor. The Raptor brand itself is a juggernaut of off-roading power and now we have all the details on the latest addition.
The important bits of information are as follows: twin-turbo EcoBoost V6, FOX dampers, on-road and off-road drive modes including Baja mode, serious underbody protection, and an advanced permanent four-wheel-drive system.
“We’ve really focused on delivering a genuine performance truck with the next-gen Ranger Raptor,” said Dave Burn, Ford Performance Chief Program Engineer for Ranger Raptor. “It’s significantly faster, looks incredible, is packed with new features, and is the strongest Built Ford Tough Ranger we’ve ever made.”
The 3.0-litre EcoBoost V6 delivers a stump-crushing 392 horsepower and 430 lb.-ft. of torque. Mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission where each gear gets its own boost profile, forward momentum is grin-inducing.
The Ranger Raptor will get its own version of Ford All Terrain control complete with three on-road drive modes and four off-road modes. The permanent four-wheel-drive system will include an all-new electronically controlled on-demand two-speed transfer case, combined with front and rear locking differentials, for essentially unmatched hardcore off-roading abilities.
The FOX 2.5-inch Live Valve internal bypass shock absorbers are tuned to handle all eventualities. They feature FOX’s race-proven Bottom-Out Control which provides maximum damping force in the final 25% of the damper’s travel.
“The new suspension upgrades in the Ranger Raptor make the most of the new FOX Live Valve dampers. The suspension adapts in real-time to enable exceptional on-road body control while absorbing corrugations and bigger ruts off-road with ease ensuring maximum control and performance,” said Burn.
On paper and based on the images provided, the new Ranger Raptor is everything truck enthusiasts want and deserve.
