Once more, reservations far exceed the automaker’s expectations.
The reservation-to-order conversion may be as high as 95%.
If you try and reserve one now, you won’t get it before 2024, at the earliest.
Although General Motors seems surprised by the number of reservations they’ve so far received for the new all-electric GMC Hummer EV pickup, anyone following the industry will tell you that this was to be expected.
GM’s fast-forwarded their production plans but this kind of demand will cause inevitable delays for new orders.
“Production’s actually slightly ahead of plan and we’re putting things in place now to actually expedite that as well, so we can deliver these reservations quicker than we originally thought,” Duncan Aldred, global vice president of GMC told CNBC during a media event. “We’re seeing momentum building.”
GM is working hard to accelerate Hummer production in order to meet the demand but even so, these numbers mean that a reservation made won’t be delivered until sometime in 2024.
Most of the reservations accrued over the recent past are for the pickup however current and future ones will probably be split evenly between it and the SUV.
