An Australian outlet managed to snag pictures of what could be the next-generation Ford Ranger.
Although the Ford Ranger is new for us in North America, its current design has actually been around for a while. 2012, in fact. It would not be unrealistic to expect a new-generation Ranger in the next few years.
Australia’s Wheels Magazine managed to capture some shots of what a new-generation Ranger may look like. The truck pictured above and below was actually prepping for a photoshop outside of Melbourne.
We immediately notice some styling elements taken from the recently redesigned 2020 Ford Super Duty including the wrap-around headlights, dual chrome vertical blocks and horizontal chrome bars. The truck pictured here is considerably smaller than a Super Duty, and for that matter it’s also smaller than a F-150. In other words, it may very well be the next Ford Ranger.
Let’s say for a moment that it is the next Ranger. If that be the case, we like the new styling directing. Adding a touch of muscle and ruggedness, the front grille is aggressive while the overall blocky design would give the Ranger a mean look that its current rounded design and happy-looking wheels is missing.
The 2019 Ford Ranger came back to North America after a long absence. Now on sale, the new Ranger features a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. It can tow more than any gas-powered competitor despite not offering a V6 engine.
A new Ranger generation could be unveiled as early as next year as a 2020 or 2021 model.
